Context for shopping a PowerShift car: the DPS6 is a dry dual-clutch automatic (no torque converter, no fluid coupling), which is why it shudders and hesitates in a way a normal automatic does not -- it is behaving like a slipping manual clutch. Ford extended the transmission warranty and ran Customer Satisfaction Program 14M01 (clutch-shudder / input-shaft-seal warranty extension) alongside years of TSBs and a large owner class action, and many cars received repeated clutch and seal repairs. A well-sorted, fully-repaired example can be livable, but this is a transmission to buy with eyes open and the paperwork in hand.

Check — Insist on documentation: whether program 14M01 or the warranty extension was applied, what clutch and TCM calibration are installed, and how many times the clutch or input-shaft seals have been replaced. Prefer a documented, recently-serviced example over a cheap one with an unknown transmission history; a car still under any extended coverage is worth more.
