Some owners of the 2.4L K24 four report that it uses oil between changes -- the same piston-ring oil-consumption tendency seen elsewhere in Honda's K24 family. The corpus signal on the 2012-2016 CR-V is modest rather than dominant (a small share of engine complaints name oil consumption, adding a quart or burning oil), so treat it as a car-by-car condition to verify rather than a generation-wide certainty. On a high-mileage example the behavior is already fully expressed: it either uses oil or it does not.

Check — Ask how much oil is added between changes and pull the dipstick -- a low or dark reading on a recently serviced car is the tell. Look for a puff of smoke at cold start. Because chain wear on the K24 is oil-dependent, an engine that runs low compounds the risk; favor a documented oil-change history.

Recall 23V858000 covers an in-tank fuel pump that can fail across a large group of Honda and Acura vehicles, with the 2013-2016 CR-V among those affected. Per the recall, the fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail; the consequence is an engine stall while driving, which raises the risk of a crash. The fix is free. Because this is a latent, VIN-conditional item rather than something you can always feel on a short drive, completion status is what matters -- an unperformed recall on a specific car is the open risk.

Check — Run the VIN through Honda's recall lookup (or nhtsa.gov/recalls) and confirm 23V858000 is complete; if it is open, have it done before daily driving. A 2012 CR-V is outside this campaign's year range, but still run the VIN for any other open recalls.

Idle and low-speed vibration is the 4th-generation CR-V's defining driveability complaint, and the 2015 model year is its epicenter -- the great majority of the vibration reports across 2012-2016 fall in 2015.
